Decorative Painters' Guild

White Mountain Decorative Painters' Guild is a chapter of The Society of Decorative Painters (SDP). It is a non-profit organization consisting of more than 100 members. This chapter was founded in March of 1985, in Merrimack, New Hampshire. Our group was formed to bring individuals together who share a common interest  in decorative painting in its many forms.  Its membership meets to share ideas, opinions and knowledge.

Membership Benefits

Membership in WMDPG offers the opportunity to meet with other painters at the local level. We meet five times a year for a business meeting, lunch and an afternoon program, which may consist of painting, new product demos or other presentations.

Yearly seminars are held with a national teacher.  We also have two Paint-Ins with local teachers which cost $10.00 to our members and $15.00 to guests.

WMDPG has been involved in many painting events in the community including a mural at the Veteran's Hospital in Manchester, NH and promoting decorative painting at the 4-H  fair held in Westford, MA.  Chapter members donate their time and painting skills to the Memory Box Program, Paint For Freedom Program, and ornaments and Easter eggs for David's House in Lebanon, N.H. Monetary donations are also given to David's House along with snacking foods, bedding and paper products throughout the year.

We actively encourage painters of all levels to join our chapter which requires SDP membership.

National Decorative Painting Month

The month of October, which is National Decorative Painting Month, brings forth an annual mini convention called "New England Traditions" (NET). This convention is organized by the New England Chapters Council (NECC) of the Society of Decorative Painters. WMDPG is one of the sponsoring Chapters. NET includes classes, demos, an art show and a trade show. It is a chance to display our creative talents and raise money for the chapters through raffles and the sale of painted items.

NET is held each year at the Best Western/Royal Plaza Trade Center in Marlborogh, MA. Please visit www.newenglandtraditions.org for information.
